Inexpensive one-room flats can be found for no more than $50. Some owners that give for rent this kind of Kyiv apartments might as well offer to meet you at the airport. The rule of thumb of here is to reserve the apartment at least a couple of days in advance.

In case you are tight with funds or would like to have something more extreme, you may rent sleeping space in a train compartment. There's a train station ?Karavaevy dachi? where you may rent a compartment for some $15. Try this at your own danger.

The most convenient option of moving around is Kiev taxis. the driver will take you from the station to wherever you are staying for less than $35. In fact, for a foreigner, the Ukrainian taxis should be reasonably affordable. It is easy to taxi Kiev around. However, in case you do not plan on using only taxis in Kiev, the city offers lots of transportation options.

In the first place, it is the subway that covers most of the city. It is very convenient when you have to travel large distances on the rush hours when there are traffic jams on the surface. Second, there are buses, trolley busses and trams. These types of transport are quite cheep: you pay a fixed amount to travel any distance. However, they don't have a schedule of passage. Next, you can travel afoot or use Kiev's unique transport - funicular that goes up the shore of the Dnieper. At last, you can always walk around.
